Department of Otolaryngology is largely divided into ear, nose, and
oral/laryngeal and neck. The department has been known to provide treatments
for sinusitis, tonsillitis, and otitis media; recently, however, most of
illnesses and disorders on derencephalus, as well as nose, ear, and throat,
are also included in its treatment areas.
The most common illnesses treated in the department are, for ear, acute
otitis media, Otitis media with effusion, chronical otitis media, chronic
otitis media with cholesteatoma, hearing impairment, tinnitus, dizziness,
facial nerve palsy, for nose, chronic sinusitis, chronic rhinitis, allergic
rhinitis, snoring, sleep apnea, cranio-facial trauma, and for derencephalus,
chronic pharyngitis, tonsillitis, vocal nodules, hoarseness, neck mass, head
and neck tumor(larynx cancer, pharynx cancer, oral cavity cancer, salivary
gland tumor, nasal cavity cancer, thyroid tumor.
Furthermore, the department also conducts skull base surger, reconstruction
of head and neck defect, rhinoplasty, and treats voice-speech disorder,
esophageal illnesses and others related illnesses.
Examination rooms in the department, such as audiometry room, vestibular
function test room, rhinomanometry room, nasal allergy test room, laryngeal
and nasal endoscope room, are fully equipped with cutting-edge technology
for accurate diagnosis and treatment. The department also is dedicated to
fostering excellent medical personnels by providing them with high quality
education.
The department is offering various lectures and training courses to equip
the medical students with the knowledge and skills to solve problems in
Otolaryngology and to help them to learn and fully understand physical
examination, diagnosis and treatment. The department is also contributing to
having the latest medical knowledge come into use by holding various paid
training programs for the local doctors, and to cultivating knowledge by
holding on-campus training using various themes and cases.
